My name is Emelie Willebrand (e-mail: emelie@scarfie.se) and I own a company called Scarife. Scarfie was founded by Maria Flink and during 2006 we became partners. Since the start of 2009 I have been the sole owner of Scarfie and here is a short story about how Scarfie came to life.

My name is Maria Flink and during February of 2004 I lost my hair, first in general and then partial. I shaved the last bits off.

I have always had a very full and think hair which made the transition even harder.

You ask yourself what the reason behind the loss of hair is? In my case it was caused by an imbalance of my metabolism combined with physical and psychological fatigue.

My reaction? You who have been in the same situation know, first a state of sorrow with all its phases. What to do? See the possibilities, develop your strong sides, in short just accept the fact and move on. It is ok to be sad but never feel sorry for yourself, personality is not about the hair.

What can the marketplace offer me?

Wigs, hats and turbans.

Wigs? Ok in certain circumstances, I use them mostly when I don't have the energy to cope with peoples curious stares. The drawback is the itch; it is hot and feels generally not secure. In my case it sometimes feels contradictive; I am not ashamed for my lack of hair, so why should I wear a wig?

Hat? In the right circumstances it looks really good! I wish people would use hats more often. Is it comfortable? Maybe not.

Turban? This is a creation that I really do not understand. It looks like swimming hats from the 30s and with all due respect might actually compel to that age group.

Scarfes? Absolutely my favourite. Here you will find a number of colours, qualities and at the same time it feels very nice to use. They are timeless, for all ages and everyone can use them, it does not matter if you have hair or not. Unfortunately it is very hard to find scarves that fits well, they can slide, you might struggle to find a good way of tying them etc.

Are there no scarves that are sewed in a way that makes them easy to tie? Can you not combine scarves and false hair? I searched for a long time to find something like that and to my great surprised there was not much to choose from.

At that time the idea to do it myself was born and I created Scarfie during October 2004.

Ideas for various scarves with hair literally sparkled. Thanks to my partners Scarfie finished its first product on the 25th of July 2005.

Who can use Scarfie? Everyone with or without hair, as an alternative to a wig, accessories for various clothing styles, if you have short hair and want to have long hair for a day. There are opportunities for everyone to use Scarfies!
